Yehia Massoud

Prof. Yehia Massoud is a trailblazer in the fields of technology and academia, noted for his leadership and innovation. With a Ph.D. from MIT in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, he initiated his career at Synopsys in Silicon Valley, where he led a pioneering R&D group. His work contributed to the development of technologies now used by hundreds of thousands worldwide.

Prof. Yehia Massoud transitioned to academia in 2003 at Rice University, where his swift rise to tenure and role as ECE graduate program chair underscored his adeptness at fusing advanced research with practical teaching applications. Prof. Yehia Massoud’s work at Rice set the stage for significant educational advancements in engineering and computer science disciplines.

Serving as Dean of the School of Systems and Enterprises at Stevens Institute of Technology, Prof. Yehia Massoud Massoud led efforts that significantly expanded research funding and industrial partnerships. His initiatives introduced cutting-edge programs in AI and leadership, preparing students to effectively address the complexities of modern industry landscapes.

At Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Prof. Yehia  Massoud’s role as department head was marked by transformational growth. Yehia Massoud has held several leading positions at renowned institutions of higher education and respected industry names including Rice University, Stevens Institute of Technology, WPI, UAB, Kaust, Stanford University, IBM, and Synopsys Inc. As a scholar, he has been elected Fellow of IEEE, IET, IOP, and Optica. His recognition from several leading organizations and numerous awards, such as the Rising Star of Texas Medal, underscore his enduring impact on technology and innovation.Yehia Massoud's achievements extend beyond academia to include substantial contributions in applied research and industry collaborations. Massoud’s research group was responsible for developing the world’s first realization of compressive sensing systems for signals. Massoud's collaboration with industry leaders such as Intel, Accenture, Google, and TI has facilitated strong link between academic research and commercialization.
